From Recommendations to Reality

This three-day conference for occupational therapists is rooted in best practice recommendations from three premiere authorities on pediatrics: the World Health Organization’s ICF-CY (International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health – Child and Youth Version), Interdisciplinary Council on Development and Learning, and the American Occupational Therapy Association Practice Framework – Domains and Practice 3. Day 1 will focus on the theoretical underpinnings for models of pediatric evaluation in occupational therapy and will include comparative analysis of specific assessments as well as interactive small-group case study exercises. Day 2 and Day 3 will offer attendees exciting hands-on opportunities to thoroughly learn about, practice, and establish increased professional competence in the administration, scoring, and interpretation of a wide variety of specific assessment tools. Attendees are invited to suggest tools of interest on their registration form (sponsors cannot guarantee all requested assessment tools will be offered).
Pediatric physiotherapists are also welcome to all three days.
Psychologists, pediatrician's, developmentalists, behaviorists, speech and language pathologists and others on the child assessment team are welcome to attend Day 1.

Our Occupational Therapist developed an in-depth understanding of my child's needs and took time to help me understand those needs and to explain what was happening in the sessions and why.
