Emily Nguyen

B.Occ.THy (Hons), Occupational Therapist, Ayres Sensory Integration Certified

Emily is a registered Occupational Therapist in Australia and Hong Kong. She completed her Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Hons) with First Class Honours from the University of Queensland, Australia in 2015. Emily has a brother who has a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), which made her passionate about working in the field. Following graduation, Emily has gained a wide range of experiences, all within the field of Paediatrics. 

Emily worked for Queensland's Department of Education providing occupational therapy intervention to rural mainstream schools and special schools. She worked with children with diverse needs and disabilities including ASD, ADHD, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Developmental Delay, Speech Language, Hearing and Vision Impairment. Furthermore, she worked at a not-for-profit organisation, Autism Queensland. There she engaged in clinic therapy sessions, school visit consultations and running small group interventions. In 2017, Emily moved to Hong Kong and worked at an intensive early intervention centre. There she conducted assessments and provided therapy for local and expat children.

Emily loves seeing the progress children make and wants to ensure that every child and family receive the best therapy in order to reach their full potential. Emily embraces that every child is unique and aims to provide individualised holistic treatment approaches tailored to each child’s strengths, needs and interests. Emily implements creative therapy sessions that maximises the child’s engagement to ensure therapy is meaningful, fun and effective. 
Emily values professional development and continually expands her skill base. She is certified in Ayres Sensory Integration and Praxis Test, Sequential Oral Sensory (SOS) Approach to Feeding, Therapressure© Brushing Protocol; having completed Sensory Defensiveness course presented by Patricia and Julia Wilbarger, DIR Floortime 101 and will complete DIR201 by April 2020. She has also completed training in Therapeutic Listening™ and Quickshift; Revolutionising the Use of Sound in Sensorimotor Integrative Treatment, presented by Sheila Frick and Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS).
